Nice isn’t just beautiful in broad daylight.
When the sun begins to set, the city and its surroundings offer breathtaking panoramas and suspended moments. Whether you’re a lover of photography, nature, romance or simply in search of peace and quiet, here are our favorite places to enjoy the sunset, between sea and hills.
Cap de Nice: between sea and sky
This is undoubtedly Nice’s most iconic sunset walk.
From the port of Nice, take the coastal path towards Coco Beach and continue to Cap de Nice. The path winds along the water’s edge, skirting the rocks, and immersing you in an almost wild atmosphere.
🕖 Ideal time: set off at 7 p.m. to watch the sun set over the Baie des Anges.
💡 N&J tip: take a small aperitif or bottle of water with you for a break on the rocks.
Colline du Château: panoramic view of the entire bay

Accessible on foot from Vieux-Nice or by elevator, the Colline du Château is a popular spot during the day… but even more enchanting at dusk.
From the waterfall platform or the belvederes, you’ll have a breathtaking view of the whole city, from the beaches to Cap d’Antibes.
📍 Access: Rue des Ponchettes or montée Lesage
🕖 Ideal for a pre-dinner stroll in Vieux-Nice
Promenade des Anglais: the simple magic of the seaside

Classic, but always effective! A stroll along the Promenade des Anglais at the end of the day is a must. Whether on foot, by bike or sitting in a blue chair, the sky changes color minute by minute, reflecting off the sea and Belle Époque facades.
💙 Ideal for families or a quiet moment alone
🍦 Suggested break: an ice cream at Fenocchio’s to take to the beach.
Cap-Ferrat: the customs path at dusk

Just 25 minutes from Nice, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat’s coastal path offers a wild, unspoilt setting for a sunset walk. Start your walk at Passable beach or the Cap-Ferrat lighthouse, and let the scent of pine and the sparkling sea guide you.
🚶♀️ Accessible walk (bring good shoes)
📸 Perfect for photographers: low-angled light and turquoise sea
Mount Boron: sunset from the heights
For those who like a bit of height, Mont Boron Park is a well-kept secret. Accessible by car or bus (line 33), this wooded park overlooks the city and the Mediterranean. From the heights, the view stretches from Nice’s rooftops to Italy on a clear day.
🌿 Perfect for a nature walk or picnic with a view.
📍 Point of interest: the Fort du Mont Alban, an ideal spot for contemplation.
Sunset at sea: cruise or paddle

And why not experience the sunset… from the water? Sea outings departing from the port of Nice or Beaulieu-sur-Mer are available in summer.
For a more sporty option, the beach at Villefranche-sur-Mer or La Réserve offers the chance to hire a paddle or kayak to glide across the water in the golden hour.
🚤 Romantic option: aperitif cruise off the bay
🏄♀️ Active option: paddle + snorkel before nightfall
And for all of that… where to stay ?

In a nutshell: summer in Nice also means after 7 p.m.
Sunset on the Côte d’Azur is a privileged, almost meditative moment. Few cities offer such a variety of viewpoints, between sea, hills and secret coves. Whether you’re a family, a couple or a solo traveler, the light at the end of the day will sublimate your stay.
